Getting Started

Your first hours in XP Hero, mapped out from the game's own data — what unlocks when, where your first gold should go, and exactly what you're up against in Chapter 1.

Your first hour

XP Hero's onboarding is a fixed quest chain — the game unlocks features in a deliberate order. Here is the whole ladder, in order, with the real triggers:

You unlockHow
Character Ability upgradesClear "Build Bonfire" — build the Bonfire (3 Gold)
In-app ShopReach the quest "Buy the Weapon Chest"
Weapon InventoryReach the quest "Equip your Weapon"
Weapon Craft (Smithy gacha)Clear "Build Smithy" — build the Smithy (70 Gold)
Codex (monster kills & rewards)Clear "Hunt Cactuses" — defeat 15 Cactuss
Mission CenterClear "Open chest and Get Reward"
2nd weapon slot & sub-weaponClear "Unlock Weapon Slot" and "Equip your SubWeapon"
Challenge TowerClear "Return to Base"
7-day event / carnival / live eventReach player level 14 / 17 / 24
Takeaway: the main quest chain is the tutorial. Don't skip the cactus hunt — the Codex pays gems for kill milestones, and the chest you open for the Mission Center counts toward it.

Your first buildings

The story walks you through the town's core. Costs from the game's tables:

BuildingCost
Bonfire3 Gold
Smithy70 Gold
ChestHouse330 Gold
Portal5,170 Gold

Later buildings layer on orb, scroll and material costs — the full 26-building table with exact costs is on the Progression page.

Where your gold goes first

Character abilities

POWER is the cheapest power-per-gold in the early game — the first brackets are pocket change:

POWER lvEffectCost
lv 1+210 Gold
lv 2+334 Gold
lv 4+5120 Gold
lv 7+8271 Gold

HP keeps you alive against stage bosses; same idea:

HP lvEffectCost
lv 0+036 Gold
lv 2+80127 Gold
lv 4+220288 Gold
Long view: the top POWER brackets cost 16,896,389 Gold + 100 Hell Orb each, so early gold is cheap — spend it freely now, hoard it later.

Blessings

Three blessing tracks (50 levels each) add flat values — 50→150, 200→350 and 100→300 across the tracks. They're paid with a separate experience currency, so level them whenever you can afford the next step; the game marks the final level of each track.

Weapon Craft odds

The Smithy's Weapon Craft is your gacha. Each craft step costs more than the last and rolls better odds:

StepCostOdds
Step 120 Gold100% Normal
Step 21,300 Gold49% Normal · 10% Fine · 1% Rare
Step 320,100 Gold + 10 Red Orb44.75% Normal · 12% Fine · 3% Rare · 0.25% Epic
Step 434,500 Gold + 20 Red Orb41.5% Normal · 14% Fine · 4% Rare · 0.5% Epic
Step 5134,300 Gold + 10 Pink Orb39.25% Normal · 15% Fine · 5% Rare · 0.75% Epic
Step 6288,900 Gold + 20 Pink Orb + 40 Red Orb37% Normal · 16% Fine · 6% Rare · 1% Epic
Step 7765,000 Gold + 30 Pink Orb + 60 Red Orb33.5% Normal · 18% Fine · 7% Rare · 1.5% Epic
Step 830% Normal · 20% Fine · 8% Rare · 2% Epic
Read the odds: step 1 is a guaranteed Normal weapon for 20 Gold — take it. By step 8 you're paying millions for a 2% Epic roll, so push steps early and stop when the price outpaces your gold income.

The road through the story

Every story stage is gated behind a boss kill. Chapter 1's gates, in order:

Chapter 2 and 3 continue the pattern: Dark Lord → Banshee → Moonshadow → Volcanus → SeaQueen → Warchief → Revenant → Hobchief → Magma Golem → Fanglord → Skullwyrm → Ant King → Vampire Lord → Abyss Lord. Chapter 4–6 zones on the World Map have their own bosses — see the Progress Tracker for your chapter's gates.

Chests & level-up rewards

Challenge Tower & what's next

The Challenge Tower unlocks after "Return to Base" and runs 250 floors of scaling waves — the DPS Calculator can tell you how far your build clears today, and the Tower page lists every floor's waves and rewards.

From there, the loop is: clear stages → unlock buildings → push POWER/HP → craft better weapons → repeat. The Progress Tracker shows what's left in the chain for your level and chapter.
